Friday Fav

My Town~
I live off Main Street but rarely do I take it when I drive to and from work. It just reminds me too much of "big city" traffic and I'm trying to pretend I live in a small town. The following are my sites yesterday on the way home from work....enjoy!

Ok, my kiddlings are having a stroke about now (well at least the girl child)....but this young lady was walking her goat down the road when I first saw her, but by the time I made a U-ie back to take her photo she had made it to her "barn" so I stopped and asked her if I could take her picture and she kindly said "Sure". Tell me just how often do you see someone walking their goat???

I see this all the time in my town and evidently he has some "regulars" as he goes to certain houses and rings his bell until his customers come out for his goodies. We also have an ethnic grocery store in our town that is quite interesting too. Uh oh, there could be a correlation with first viewing and this one....I'm sure they sell goat meat at their grocery store!! Maybe sometime I should blog about that too.

This house is quite interesting, the sad thing is it almost always looks like this and they ARE NOT having a sale. But yesterday afternoon there were some shoppers. Husband actually said "there is not ONE thing in there that is worth buying!!!" If you know Him this was a profound statement, coming from him. I may go back at lunch and take a closer look.

Now these are interesting. Girl child will have to explain them....something that some of the schools or school art teachers did for the City. I'm sure I don't have the story right she will have to do a follow up.

I have big plans for this weekend. Tonight I'm babysitting a friend's (well, really girl child's friend but I'll claim her as my friend too) 3 month old baby boy and tomorrow (and maybe the rest of the weekend!)

I plan to conquer this.....
Oh my goodness there is another correlation ~this and the third siting!!

WISH ME LUCK!!

Latest Project

I forgot to photo a step here as I spray painted over the hot pink dots.

This is the latest thing that I created for our darling daughter's classroom. She had a large space that was once occupied by a big television, but this year they removed the TV and so she needed something to go in that space. So what better than an blooming flower box with her name growing out of it.

Funeral Food

My brother informed me yesterday that if you are going to have a blog you are suppose to put something on it everyday.... so this may get mundane as my life and my creativity does have limits on being entertaining. My second child informed me, when I talked about having a blog, that blogs were just for braggers... people bragging about their life. But, now middle child has his own blog so I guess he's changed his way of thinking or he's just bragging too. Well, anyway here are today's offering of my life from yesterday and yes, I'm probably bragging.

I was off work for the funeral and spent the morning preparing food for after the service. The first dish up for creation was banana pudding. The grandmother of the child that died requested it from me the night before and I just so happened to have a (blurry) recipe from her mother (Aunt Ruby to us). So here I am doing the Martha Stewart step by step for you today with my culinary skills in illustrations. Actually, I didn't photograph all the steps just some, so do not try this at home. First I put my sugar and flour in a pan and added milk to that as it continued to get warmer I gradually added egg yolks saving the egg whites for the meringue. Sliced up some bananas. When I do the bananas I slice them down the middle lengthwise and then slice them in fairly chunky chunks. It just seems like you get more bang for your buck this way...don't ask me why. Get your box of Nilla or Vanilla Wafers out and line the pan with them.

Now we're going to take the egg whites that we saved and beat the dickens out of them until they stand up for mercy!

Now we're talking! You also should always use a glass bowl or a copper one, when beating egg whites, but I don't own a copper bowl so it's glass.

At this point you add sugar to your meringue so it will be sweet.

Now we spread the meringue over the top of the pudding mixture.

Now pop that pudding in the oven.
And we'll go over the rest of the fixins I took...

This...

turned into this Easy peasy...just pick up several cans of beans and peas, cut up sausage, throw in some onion, garlic, brown sugar, mustard, catsup, liquid smoke and anything else you can think of and put it in the crockpot and forget it for several hours.

I also took a potato casserole, brisket, ham and a chocolate cake. Enough said here are the pictures....now I've got to start thinking about tomorrow's blog so my brother won't be disappointed.

Oh! I almost forgot these are the after shots of the carnage after I finished in the kitchen. Two hours from these photos I had 11 ladies at my house for Bunko...but that's a story for another day or BLOG!!

Later!

Two die in Oklahoma wrecks, including boy on ATV

From Staff Reports
Two people died in state wrecks Saturday afternoon, including an 8-year-old boy riding on an all-terrain vehicle, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Dead are:

Michael Lane McCloud, 8, Richardson, Texas.

Michael died when the all-terrain vehicle on which he was riding rolled on top of him in southern McClain County north of Lindsey, the patrol said.

About 4:45 p.m., Kinsey McCloud, 12, of Richardson, Texas, was driving the ATV in a pasture in the 15000 block of Meridian Avenue when she made a sharp left turn, the patrol said. The ATV rolled onto its side and landed on top of Michael, who died at the scene.

Kinsey and another passenger, Sue Harrison, 59, of Lindsey, were not hurt, the patrol said.

Troopers did not say if anyone was wearing a helmet.

In its preliminary accident report, the patrol cited excessive speed as the cause of the wreck.

This has been a sad weekend for the Powell family. Lane was the grandson of my Soul mate's cousin. Please remember this family in your prayers as they are suffering tremendously...
