Tractor Square Dance....

Now the truth is out....I am a redneck. I got the biggest kick out of this video. What talent and skill this takes and it's so darn entertaining! Well at least to me.

Have a great week!!

December Roses

Before the first frosty ice storm my little rose bed garden was in full bloom. These little yellow and orange sweetheart roses were given to me as a gift. They were put together in a double basket and were blooming gorgeously.
After they had completely bloomed out I cut them back and planted them directly into the rose bed. I believe this is their second bloom this year.

I've always wanted a rose bed and now I have a really great one. This one is really a tribute to my late mother-in-law and a beloved neighbor from years gone by who loved roses especially pink ones. This bed is filled with little momentos of times and people gone by. This little cerub was in my mother's back yard. She sits on a stone and keeps watch over the blooms. There is also a little rabbit from mom's yard and rusty milk can from my maternal grandfather.

My mother's favorite flowers were lilies so my next project is to create a lily bed on the opposite side of the house from the rose bed. My hope is to collect some bulbs from different sources with some history behind them.

Random-ness a Fav

Time for Friday Fav and this one is RANDOM! Going through my photos and looking at all the random (odd) ones! Which make me laugh, smile or ponder. So today I'll share them with you in no particular order (well, I guess that's what random is huh?)....

Just a couple of footnotes....the deer in the above photo has a hoof or foot growing out of his neck!! FOR REAL! The lovely bride and groom would be my beloved parents and that large dirty mouth was me proving to one stubborn grandson that his mouth was dirty...the signage I thought was a weird, but funny combination. The Amish we saw while on vacation ours and theirs apparently... The dirty pool would be at Daughter's new house (the before picture) and the man on the plane told me he was from Gilmer Texas so I took his picture so I could ask a friend of mine from there if she knew him. She didn't but her Mother did!

Friday FAV

MEXICAN FOOD!!!

With good friends....this is one of my top favorites. We call these friends the M&M's because both of their names start with the letter M. I have to be their friend forever because they know way too much about me and I would have to commit murder if I couldn't be their friend. (Just remember that girls) They wouldn't let me take their picture at lunch today, so I had to draw from a stock photo I had. Elder M thought the outfit she had on today was somewhat Strawberry Shortcakish ...something to do with the baby doll sleeves and the latest hair coloring. But she looked smashing as always for REAL... They are both sweethearts and would do anything for me...I think, but might not after this blog.

Any way this is where we went. And it was very yummy. In my next life I will marry a Mexican man with a mother who can cook or that owns his own restaurant. Mexican food is by far my very favorite food. And as luck would have it I'm married to someone who as he ages is not doing so gracefully with this fine cuisine.

This is what we dined on... Fajita Salad

Plain Jane Nachos in the one size fits all portion.

And a dos lunch platter with a cheese enchilada and a beef taco.

A certain someone from the fine east Texas town of Gilmer enjoys a dose of the "squirt butter" as my family calls it. Although she uses it in the most peculiar way...I think. And no I don't want any, thank you.
Well, that's it for this weeks Friday Favorite...there's just one problem with this favorite...if I do it very often I'm definitely going to have to join this club.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Fav

My Town~
I live off Main Street but rarely do I take it when I drive to and from work. It just reminds me too much of "big city" traffic and I'm trying to pretend I live in a small town. The following are my sites yesterday on the way home from work....enjoy!

Ok, my kiddlings are having a stroke about now (well at least the girl child)....but this young lady was walking her goat down the road when I first saw her, but by the time I made a U-ie back to take her photo she had made it to her "barn" so I stopped and asked her if I could take her picture and she kindly said "Sure". Tell me just how often do you see someone walking their goat???

I see this all the time in my town and evidently he has some "regulars" as he goes to certain houses and rings his bell until his customers come out for his goodies. We also have an ethnic grocery store in our town that is quite interesting too. Uh oh, there could be a correlation with first viewing and this one....I'm sure they sell goat meat at their grocery store!! Maybe sometime I should blog about that too.

This house is quite interesting, the sad thing is it almost always looks like this and they ARE NOT having a sale. But yesterday afternoon there were some shoppers. Husband actually said "there is not ONE thing in there that is worth buying!!!" If you know Him this was a profound statement, coming from him. I may go back at lunch and take a closer look.

Now these are interesting. Girl child will have to explain them....something that some of the schools or school art teachers did for the City. I'm sure I don't have the story right she will have to do a follow up.

I have big plans for this weekend. Tonight I'm babysitting a friend's (well, really girl child's friend but I'll claim her as my friend too) 3 month old baby boy and tomorrow (and maybe the rest of the weekend!)

I plan to conquer this.....
Oh my goodness there is another correlation ~this and the third siting!!

WISH ME LUCK!!

Friday Favs

In celebration of the last day of the week I think another Favorite is in order... this is a recent favorite and a hard one to find!

Sour

Skittles
!!

Luckily, the Kroger closest to our house has had them, but a lot of the time they are out. I've looked for them at other places, but no one else seems to carry them.

The last time I was at Kroger there was a man on his cell phone and the conversation went like this...."Ok, tell me again what kind of candy I'm suppose to be looking for? Skittles? Ok, here they are.....oh, not regular Skittles? Sour? ummmm?" At this point I wanted to grab the two bags on the shelf and run, but I have bad knees and knew I wouldn't get very far, so I politely handed him one of the two bags that were left. The next time I went there were a dozen or more bags so I helped myself to two bags this time and it lasted me over a week. Even sharing it with others.

I wish I worked with this guy... http://www.skittles.com/advertising/index.jsp

He probably drives
this to work everyday!

The first bag bit the dust...

I found this cute little jar at the local thrift store for 50 cents. You may not be able to tell but it has a little metal plate on the front that says "Sweets". I have just the right spot for it at my office in front of some other "Sweets"!

Another sweet....well, not so sweet right now as he's recovering is my sweet soul mate. The latest update on the knee is that his bandage came off yesterday and he has a total of 23 staples. I'll save the photo on that one, even though I do have one. And this morning he went out to breakfast at his local coffee stop. I dropped him off on my way to work and a buddy of his brought him home. He didn't last very long until it was time for pain medication and a rest.

All in all he's doing alright, just a little frustrated at what he can and can't do.
